How to Use the Date Calculator

This tool is very helpful for planning events, checking deadlines, or just finding out how many days are left for a special occasion. We have two different modes to help you.

Mode 1: Difference Between Dates

Use this mode when you want to know how much time has passed between two dates. For example, you can find out exactly how many days you have been married, or how many days are left until your next vacation.

Step 1: Enter Start and End Dates

Click on the "Start Date" box and select your starting date. Then click on the "End Date" box and select the finishing date. You can use the calendar pop-up or type the dates directly.

Step 2: Choose Working Days (Optional)

If you only want to count business days (Monday to Friday) and want to ignore Saturdays and Sundays, check the box that says "Only count working days". This is very useful for office work.

Step 3: Click Calculate

Click the blue "Calculate Difference" button. The tool will instantly show you the total number of days, weeks, months, years, and even hours between the two dates.

Mode 2: Add or Subtract Days

Use this mode when you know a date and want to find out what the date will be after a certain number of days. For example, if you take a 90-day leave, you can find out exactly what date you need to return to work.

Step 1: Enter Your Starting Date

Select the date you are starting from in the "Start Date" box.

Step 2: Enter Days and Choose Operation

In the "Number of Days" box, type how many days you want to count (like 30, 60, or 90). Then, choose whether you want to "Add Days" to move forward in time, or "Subtract Days" to move backward.

Step 3: Find Your New Date

Click the "Calculate New Date" button. The tool will show you the exact date and the day of the week (like Monday or Friday).

Why Do You Need a Date Calculator?

Counting days on a calendar by hand is very slow and you can easily make a mistake, especially with months that have 28, 30, or 31 days. Here are some of the most common reasons people use this tool:

1. Calculating Notice Periods

When you resign from a job, you usually have a notice period of 30, 60, or 90 days. You need to know the exact last working day so you can plan your next job. Using the "Add Days" mode, you can enter your resignation date and add your notice period to find your exact last day.

2. Exam and Event Countdowns

Students often want to know exactly how many days are left until their exams. By entering today's date as the start date and the exam date as the end date, you can see exactly how much time you have to study. The "Working Days" feature is especially helpful to see how many actual school days are left.

3. Pregnancy and Baby Planning

Doctors often calculate the due date of a baby by adding 280 days to the first day of the last menstrual period. While this tool is not a medical device, you can use the "Add Days" mode to add 280 days to a date to get a good idea of a due date.

4. Legal and Financial Deadlines

Banks and courts often have strict time limits. For example, you might have 15 working days to respond to a bank notice. By using the working days calculator, you can make sure you never miss an important deadline. You can also calculate when an insurance policy or passport will expire by adding the number of valid days to the issue date.

5. Project Planning

If you are managing a project, you need to know how many days are between the start and the deadline. You can use the difference mode to see the total calendar days, and then check the working days to see how many actual days your team can work.

How Working Days Are Calculated

A normal calendar counts every single day, including Saturdays and Sundays. But in the business world, most offices are closed on weekends. "Working days" are usually Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

When you check the "Only count working days" box, our tool actually looks at the day of the week for every single date between your start and end date. It skips the weekend days and only counts the Monday-to-Friday days.

Please note: This tool does not know about public holidays (like Diwali, Holi, or Independence Day). If you want to exclude public holidays, you will need to subtract those days from the final answer yourself.

Is Your Data Safe?

Yes. The Date Calculator is completely private. We do not save the dates you enter, and we do not track your calculations. Everything runs directly on your phone or computer using your browser. You can even turn off your internet, and the calculator will still work perfectly. We do not ask for your name, email, or any personal details.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does the end date get counted in the difference?

If you want to know how many days are between two dates, the tool calculates the total time that has passed. For example, from January 1st to January 2nd, one full day has passed. If you want to include both the start and end date (like counting days of a hotel stay), you should add 1 to your final result.

How do I calculate my exact age using this?

For age, it is better to use our dedicated Age Calculator tool. That tool is designed specifically to give you your age in exact years, months, and days.

What happens if I add days to a leap year?

Our tool is very smart. It automatically knows when a year has 366 days (leap year). So if you add 365 days to a date, it will give you the exact correct date in the next year, taking the extra day into account.

Are public holidays removed from the working days calculation?

No. We only remove Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are different for every state and country, so we cannot track them automatically. You will need to manually subtract any public holidays that fall between your dates.

Can I subtract days to find a date in the past?

Yes! In the "Add / Subtract Days" mode, simply select "Subtract Days" from the dropdown menu. This is useful for finding out what date it was 100 days ago.
