Complete Guide: Free Finance Calculators for Every Indian (2026)
Money decisions shape your entire life — from the home you buy, to the taxes you pay, to the retirement you enjoy. Yet most Indians struggle with basic financial math because the numbers are complex, the jargon is confusing, and the tools are either paywalled or designed to sell you a loan. DocEasy Finance Tools change that. We've built 17 free, browser-based calculators covering loans, income tax, salary, investments, and retirement — all private, all instant, all free forever.
This guide walks you through every calculator, explains the math behind them, shows real examples, and answers the most common questions about EMIs, tax regimes, HRA, gratuity, EPF, NPS, and more. Whether you're a salaried employee, a freelancer, a business owner, or a student planning your first investment, this article will help you use these tools with confidence.
Why Use Finance Calculators at All?
Human beings are notoriously bad at estimating compounding. We underestimate how much interest we'll pay over a 20-year loan, overestimate how much our SIP will grow, and completely misjudge how much tax we owe until the CA sends the bill. A good finance calculator eliminates guesswork by turning raw numbers into clear, comparable outputs.
Consider a ₹50 lakh home loan at 8.5% for 20 years. Most borrowers focus only on the EMI — around ₹43,000 — and forget that over the loan's life they'll pay ₹54 lakh in interest alone, more than the principal itself. Seeing this number changes behaviour: you might choose a shorter tenure, make prepayments, or negotiate a lower rate. That's the power of a calculator.
Loan Calculators: EMI, Interest, and Amortization
DocEasy offers four loan calculators: Home Loan, Car Loan, Personal Loan, and Education Loan. All four use the standard bank formula:
EMI = P × r × (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n − 1)
where P is the principal, r is the monthly interest rate (annual rate divided by 12 divided by 100), and n is the tenure in months. This formula produces the fixed monthly payment that fully repays the loan by the end of the tenure.
Home Loan EMI Calculator
The most-used tool. Enter loan amount, interest rate, and tenure; get your monthly EMI, total interest, total payment, and a month-by-month amortization schedule. You can also add an optional extra monthly prepayment to see how many months and rupees of interest you save. For a ₹50 lakh loan at 8.5% for 20 years, prepaying just ₹5,000/month saves over ₹15 lakh in interest and cuts 5+ years off the loan.
Car Loan EMI Calculator
Car loans typically run 3–7 years at 9–11% interest. For an ₹8 lakh car at 9.5% for 5 years, the EMI is around ₹16,800. Use this calculator to compare dealer financing against bank loans before signing anything.
Personal Loan EMI Calculator
Personal loans are unsecured and expensive — usually 10–18%. A ₹3 lakh loan at 12% for 3 years means an EMI of about ₹9,964. This tool helps you decide if the monthly outflow fits your budget before you apply.
Education Loan EMI Calculator
Education loans often have a moratorium (course duration + 6–12 months). Our calculator lets you model repayment after the moratorium ends. For a ₹15 lakh loan at 10.5% over 7 years, the EMI is roughly ₹25,300.
Salary & Payroll Calculators
Your CTC is not your take-home. Between employer PF, employee PF, gratuity, professional tax, and TDS, you may only receive 70–85% of your quoted CTC. Our three salary tools break this down clearly.
In-Hand Salary Calculator
Enter your annual CTC, basic percentage, HRA percentage, tax regime, rent, and 80C investments. The calculator shows your gross breakdown (basic, HRA, special allowance, employer PF, gratuity) and deductions (employee PF, income tax, professional tax), then your exact monthly take-home. Essential for comparing job offers — a ₹15 lakh CTC in one company may pay less in-hand than a ₹14 lakh CTC elsewhere.
HRA Exemption Calculator
House Rent Allowance exemption under Section 10(13A) is the least of three values: (1) actual HRA received, (2) rent paid minus 10% of basic, (3) 50% of basic in metros or 40% elsewhere. If your basic is ₹50,000/month, HRA ₹20,000, and rent ₹18,000 in Delhi, the monthly exemption is ₹13,000 — that's ₹1.56 lakh tax-free per year. Available only in the old tax regime.
Salary Increment Calculator
Compare your old salary to your new one, or work backwards from a desired hike percentage. Useful for negotiations and for understanding the real value of a raise after tax.
Investment Calculators: SIP, FD, PPF, and CI
SIP Calculator
A ₹10,000 monthly SIP at 12% for 10 years grows to about ₹23.2 lakh, of which ₹11.2 lakh is pure returns. Over 20 years, the same SIP grows to ₹99 lakh with ₹75 lakh in returns. Our SIP calculator shows year-by-year growth, wealth gained, and optionally models an annual step-up (increasing your SIP each year).
FD Calculator
Fixed deposits are safe and predictable. A ₹5 lakh FD at 7.1% for 5 years compounded quarterly matures at about ₹7.1 lakh. Interest is taxable as per your slab; TDS applies above ₹40,000 (₹50,000 for seniors) per year.
PPF Calculator
Public Provident Fund offers fully tax-free interest (EEE status). Investing ₹1.5 lakh yearly for 15 years at 7.1% grows to about ₹40.7 lakh — completely tax-free. Our PPF calculator shows year-wise growth and total interest earned.
Compound Interest Calculator
The eighth wonder of the world. Enter any principal, rate, time, and compounding frequency (yearly, half-yearly, quarterly, monthly, daily) to see how small amounts grow over long periods. Ideal for understanding why starting early matters more than investing more.
Tax Calculators: Old vs New Regime
Income Tax Calculator
India has two tax regimes. The old regime has higher rates but allows 80C (₹1.5L), 80D, HRA, home loan interest (Sec 24), and standard deduction ₹50,000. The new regime has lower rates and enhanced standard deduction ₹75,000. Our calculator shows both side-by-side and tells you which saves you more. For many salaried people with a home loan and 80C investments, the old regime wins; for younger employees with no deductions, the new regime wins.
TDS Calculator
Tax Deducted at Source applies to contractor payments (194C), professional fees (194J), rent (194I), commission (194H), dividend (194), and more. Our calculator applies the correct rate and warns you if PAN is missing (20% penalty under 206AA).
Tax Saving Planner
Enter your income and current deductions to see how much 80C, 80D, 80CCD(1B), and Sec 24 room you still have. Helps you decide whether to invest in ELSS, PPF, NPS, or health insurance before the financial year closes.
Retirement Calculators: Gratuity, EPF, NPS
Gratuity Calculator
Gratuity is paid after 5 years of continuous service. The formula is (Last Salary × 15 × Years) / 26 for covered employees. ₹50,000 salary × 10 years = ₹2.88 lakh. Tax-exempt up to ₹20 lakh.
EPF Calculator
Employees' Provident Fund grows with 12% employee + 3.67% employer contributions to EPF (8.33% goes to pension) at ~8.25% interest. A ₹30,000 basic over 20 years with 5% annual growth grows to ₹45–55 lakh. This is a massive part of your retirement kitty.
NPS Calculator
The National Pension Scheme lets you contribute monthly, grow tax-deferred, and at 60 withdraw 60% as lump sum (tax-free) while 40% buys an annuity. Our calculator shows total corpus, lump sum, and monthly pension.
Why DocEasy Is Different
BankBazaar, PolicyBazaar, and similar sites offer free calculators as lead-generation hooks — you calculate, they call you, and suddenly you're being sold a loan you didn't need. DocEasy is the opposite. Our calculators are pure utilities: no signup, no email, no sales calls, no data tracking. Your numbers never leave your browser. You can verify this yourself by opening Developer Tools → Network tab, entering your data, and watching for requests. Zero outgoing data — because nothing is transmitted.
Privacy and Offline Support
Every calculator runs entirely client-side using JavaScript. After the page loads once, all tools work fully offline — you can turn off Wi-Fi and continue. No account, no server, no analytics on your inputs. This makes DocEasy safe for salary figures, loan details, tax computations, and investment portfolio values.
Accuracy and Compliance
Our calculators use updated tax slabs, standard deductions, 80C/80D limits, HRA rules, gratuity formulas, and EPF/NPS contribution rates. They match bank calculators to 2 decimal places. However, tax laws change with Union Budgets — always verify critical numbers against incometax.gov.in or consult a Chartered Accountant before making major decisions.
