Drawn: lines, polylines, arcs, circles, ellipses, splines, text, blocks and dimensions in model space.
Not drawn: hatch fills, 3D solids, images, external references, dashed line styles and paper-space layouts. After loading, the tool lists anything it had to skip.
Free DWG to PDF Converter Online
A DWG file is the native drawing format of AutoCAD. It is perfect for engineers and architects, but most other people cannot open it. Clients, contractors, printers and government offices usually want a PDF they can view on any phone or computer. The DocEasy DWG to PDF converter turns a DWG drawing into a vector PDF inside your browser, with no software to install and no account to create.
How to Convert DWG to PDF
- Choose your file: drop a
.dwgfile into the box, or tap the box and pick the file. - Wait for the preview: the drawing is read and shown on a sheet of paper. Large files can take a little while.
- Pick paper and style: choose A4 to A0, orientation, line thickness, and colour or black and white.
- Check the preview: make sure everything you need is visible and nothing is missing.
- Download: press Download PDF to save the file.
What the Converter Draws
The tool reads the model-space geometry of your drawing and redraws it as PDF vector paths:
- Lines, polylines (including curved segments), arcs, circles, ellipses and splines
- Text and multi-line text (Latin characters)
- The contents of blocks and dimensions
- Layer colours, with off or frozen layers left out
What Is Not Converted
DWG is a complex format, and no browser tool reproduces everything AutoCAD can draw. This converter does not draw hatch and solid fills, 3D solids, raster images, external references, dashed line styles or paper-space layouts, and some special objects from add-on software may be skipped. After loading, the tool tells you which kinds of objects it skipped, so you can decide whether the result is good enough. For drawings that must match an official plot exactly, use AutoCAD or another CAD program to plot to PDF.
Small vs Large Drawings
Smaller drawings are rendered as true vector PDF — sharp at any zoom, small file size. Very large drawings (over about 30,000 shapes) are rendered as a high-resolution image PDF so the browser stays responsive and the download completes smoothly. This is done automatically based on the drawing complexity.
Scale and Paper Size
The drawing is scaled to fit the page you choose, with a 10 mm margin. The tool shows an approximate scale such as 1:50, which is only meaningful when your drawing units are millimetres. It is not a certified plot scale.
Tips for Better Results
- Newer file formats: if a file fails to open, re-save it in AutoCAD as a 2013 DWG and try again.
- Stray objects: if the drawing looks tiny, keep Ignore far-away stray objects switched on. If part of a very long drawing is missing, switch it off.
- Black and white: choose Black & white for the cleanest print, especially for drawings with light colours.
- Paper-space layouts: only model space is converted, so move any content you need into model space before saving.
Privacy
Your DWG is read and converted inside your browser. The file is not uploaded to DocEasy. The converter engine and PDF library are loaded from public content networks when you open the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my DWG file uploaded to a server?
No. The drawing is read and converted inside your browser. The file is not uploaded to DocEasy.
Which DWG versions can I convert?
The tool reads common AutoCAD DWG versions from R14 to 2018. Files saved in the newest formats can have more limited support, so if a file fails, re-save it as an AutoCAD 2013 DWG and try again.
What parts of a drawing are converted?
Lines, polylines, arcs, circles, ellipses, splines, text, and the contents of blocks and dimensions in model space. Hatch fills, 3D solids, images, external references and paper-space layouts are not drawn.
Is the PDF vector or an image?
Small drawings are drawn as true vector PDF. Very large drawings (over 30,000 shapes) are rendered as a high-resolution image PDF to keep the browser responsive.
Can I choose the paper size?
Yes. Choose A4, A3, A2, A1 or A0 in portrait, landscape or automatic orientation.
Is the PDF drawn to an exact scale such as 1:100?
No. The drawing is fitted to the page. The tool shows the approximate scale, which is only meaningful if your drawing units are millimetres. Use AutoCAD plotting if you need a certified plot scale.
